Sassy
Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig
Sassy…
Arrived at our zoo in early 2016
Was a few months old upon arrival
Bought as a house pet, surrendered soon after, unsure of the circumstances
Pigs are often abandoned after their "owners" find out that 1. they may not be zoned for livestock or 2. pigs can be over 100 lbs
Sassy is very vocal at feeding time, no tardiness is accepted
Favorite veggies: tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots, cucumbers, greens
She loves helping her keeper change out her straw bedding
Loves ducks, does not love peacocks
Enjoys painting
Very, very fussy, only allows a couple people in her inner circle, will chase everyone else
Will flop and allow belly rubs
No such thing as a teacup pig! All healthy potbelly pigs should weigh at least 80-150 lbs.
Pigs are in the top five of intelligent animal species
Pink pigs must be protected from the sun (mud wallows help with this)
Can live in marshy wetlands and forests, open woodlands, or in a farm environment
