Meet Spike, the African Spurred Tortoise

Now we can see the African Spurred Tortoise Exhibit, home to Spike. The African Spurred Tortoise is the 3rd largest tortoise in the world, only surpassed by the Aldabra and Galapagos tortoises. Tortoises like Spike can go for weeks without food or water. They live in the deserts of North Africa, and they can take up to 15 years to fully mature while living up to 150 years old.
