Meet Holly, the Asiatic Black Bear
Now we can see the Asiatic Black Bear exhibit, home to Holly. Holly was born on December 28th, 1995, and she loves to spend her days sleeping and looking for food. On hot days, her favorite activity is lounging in her pond to keep cool, but when not lounging in water she loves to relax on her back with her feet up in the air as she uses her paws to play with toys and branches. Asiatic black bears are medium-sized bears weighing up to 450 pounds. They have a large white V-shaped chest marking, and they are also omnivorous, eating mainly seeds, nuts, fruits, berries, honey, and small bugs and animals. These bears are great climbers and will spend a lot of their time in trees, where they like to eat, sleep, and avoid enemies. Asiatic bears are mainly solitary, but they may live in a family group of two adults and their cubs. These bears can be found in the mountainous regions of various Asian countries, such as China, India, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and North/South Korea.
